- Nurses as Disciplinary Agents of the State: Ethical Practice and Mandatory Reporting in the United States. Authors Danisha Jenkins, Ian Wolfe and Jess Dillard-Wright review legislative initiatives that mandate nurses to report patients, families, and clinicians to law enforcement, and call for professional ethics that consider the complexity of nursing care in the face of increasingly blatant state-sanctioned violence. - Critical Realism in Symptom Science – A Scoping Review. Authors Asha Mathew, Ivy C. Akpotu, Mark B. Lockwood, Amit Jiwan Tirkey, Crystal L. Patil, and Ardith Z. Doorenbos
explore how Critical Realism has been applied in symptom science through a scoping review of the literature. They point to ways that this perspective can be used to examine individual and contextual factors that influence symptom experiences, response to interventions, and outcomes. - Bedside Politics and Precarious Care: New Directions of Inquiry in Critical Nursing Studies. (Open Access). Authors Martijn Felder, Jitse Schuurmans, Nienke van Pijkeren, Syb Kuijper, Roland Bal, and Iris Wallenburg draw on the work of Giorgio Agamben and Judith Butler to explore the politics of bedside rationing arising from the scarcity of nursing resources.
- Using a Constructivist-Oriented Modified Grounded Theory Approach in the Study of Intrafamily Trauma Communication Process in War-Affected Families: A Methodologic Example. Authors Sarah J. Hoffman and Windy M. Fredkove describe and explain their methodologic decision-making and methods applied to the qualitative strand of an explanatory mixed-methods study.
- The International Section article is titled Exploring Research Trends on Digital Health in Nursing Science in Korea: A Topic Modeling Approach. Authors Hae Won Kim, JiYeon Choi, Ji-Su Kim, and Youn-Jung Son explore the scope of digital health applications and major trends in nursing research involving digital health in Korea using topic modeling.
- The Visions Section article is titled Science of Unitary Human Beings: Toward Anti-racist . Actions for Human Environment Wellbecoming. Authors Anne Marie Leveille-Tulce, and Jane Hopkins-Walsh explore the possibilities and limitations of Rogers’ Science of Unitary Human Beings (SUHB) and several theories that emanate from Rogers’ work in addressing social justice mandates, to advocate and to act for equity, and to uproot systems of oppression and racism in nursing.
