Exploring the Knowledge Base of Nursing
The current featured article is authored by Mary Jane Smith, PhD, RN, FAAN and Joyce J. Fitzpatrick, PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN, titled “Perspectives on the Unitary Transformative PersonEnvironment-Health Process for the Knowledge Base of Nursing” . This article, along with others in the current ANS issue, will form a basis for discussion at a conference to be held March 20-21st at Case Western Reserve University Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. The conference will be focused on exploring the knowledge base for nursing, and will commemorate the first nursing theory conferences held in 1967, 68 and 69. The theme of the conference is “Nursing Theory: A 50 Year Perspective, Past and Future” At the conference, participants will be doing exactly what the title of this post calls for – exploring the knowledge base of nursing. In this current featured article, the authors focus on a unitary-transformative perspective – one of a number of perspectives that contribute to the development of knowledge that informs and shapes nursing practice.
